Over the past two-plus decades as an educator, I've had the privilege of teaching infants, toddlers, preschool, kindergarten, elementary students, adolescents, and adults. These individuals have been both typically developing and developmentally challenged. I've taught in both public and private school settings all across the United States.

Now my professional home is a not-for-profit, group childcare and early education center in rural Wisconsin, where I am the Education Coordinator. I have the joy of teaching a morning 4 year-old Kindergarten class, in addition to mentoring other teachers, designing curriculum and assessments, developing parent education classes, fundraising, and advocating for our families with children who have special needs.

I write a column for the county newspaper, covering local events. This satisfies both my intense curiosity and my need to feel connected to the immediate community. In writing for Suite 101.com, my goal is to reach farther out into the world and share my passion for all things related to teaching. I hold Bachelor of Science Degrees in Elementary and Special Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I am also a Certified Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Trainer and an Adult Learning Master Instructor.
